Haves and Soon-to-Haves
lol the amount of times i've heard this completely overblown response. although i guess there is some truth to it, since your sarcastic comment about fault implies that it's so absurd for people to be accountable in this day and age. well all make choices in our lives that direct our paths, so we have to be accountable. i'm currently dead broke, and that's my fault because of the choices i've made. however much money i make years down the road will be heavily influenced by those choices; it will be my fault. so your over-dramatic depiction aside, i suppose i do agree in a way that we all have some fault in where our lives end up.
and the province isn't asking for help, i don't think there's a 'request' aspect to a tax hike. if they were simply asking them to help the less wealthy, that would be charity. i'm all for charity, even now while I'm a poor student i give money to charity. but that isn't the case here.
we aren't ever going to agree because we have fundamentally different views on how the world should operate, so this is pointless in the end.
while i agree with the last part of what you said, it seems that you are ignoring the vastly different circumstances that people face in their lives that affect their economic prospects.. and by that i mean specifically those circumstances for which they are clearly not responsible.. and there seems to be an underlying belief that the role of government should be to do nothing about that, and let those people who need help just hold out hope that some charitable organization will step in.. not to sound like a moralizing cunt but that suggests a rather impoverished view of what it means to be a citizen.. but yeah you're right, we have a fundamental difference of philosophical outlook so obviously no one is going to be proven right or wrong.. is what it is
Armani just curious...
what do you go to school for?
well its a good thing I'm poor and spend all my money on hangovers and bad decisions.
rich/poor aside.
is there anything in this budget ear-marked for any increased oversight in to welfare and disability fraud?
Tax the rich. People that make more than 500k a year obviously have extra to spare. There's no need for greediness. Besides, most people in that tax bracket are so smart and capable they can find other ways to make even more money. That's what being successful is all about, not letting any external force hold you back from getting what you want. 2% extra tax will make no difference.
