Our success this year depends on two things... our left handed hitters (Johnson, Rasmus & Lind specifically) and the back of our rotation.
If we can have a balanced lineup that will render opposing managers unable to pitch around Bautista & Lawrie, were going to be successful.
All three of the above-mentioned lefties are coming off down years (2 years for Lind) and if they can play the way that theyre expected to... it'll make a HUGE difference for our offence.
Beyond that, the Jays really need a solid #3 starter. Romero should win 15 games easily (if not more) and alot of people are projecting a career year for Morrow in 2012. Looking past those two guys, the Jays need one of McGowan, Alvarez or Cecil/Drabek to step up and win games for us. The bullpen is finally one of our strong points this year and can handle having two mediocre starters in the rotation, but not three.
Luckily there is a plethora of BIG arms in the minors that are waiting to break into the lineup over the next 12-24 months so even if things dont fall into place this year, the Jays will be competing for a playoff spot next year for sure.
Exciting times ahead for Jays fans... its about time we had a competent team to follow in this city.
