Respected throughout the industry for its professionalism, consistency and commitment to producing quality D&B, Critical Records has become a powerful tour de force in the ever-growing world of underground dance music. Headed by Kasra Mowlavi – producer, label owner and promoter – Critical has an impressive roster of artists who contribute to the label, including the core group, which is made up of Break, Calibre, SpectraSoul and Sabre.
Set up in 2002, Critical Records is a “D&B label that isn’t defined by a particular sub-genre” according to Kasra. “Instead, the focus is mainly on good-quality, well produced D&B. That’s it in a nutshell.” They’ve steadily grown to become one of the most respected labels in the scene, with releases this year from the likes of former DT Podcaster Rockwell, Sabre, and Total Science making them one of those imprints to always keep your eyes on. With such rude A&R skills, Kasra makes for an excellent choice if you want to hear what the good and great of experimental D&B are up to.

I feel it’s a snapshot of exciting underground drum and bass music right now. Ive always been a lover of the roller and heres some choices ones.

Definitely the Critical Sound party at Fabric in August.
