    Good luck, buddy..

I've been looking for SL1 used online for weeks now... Craigslist and such.

It's going for practically the same price as buying new..

FYI: there is no such thing as "SL2"

    SL1 vs the SL3 — The Difference:

    Serato SL1

USB 1.1 full speed audio interface.
94 dB dynamic range on line out.
    Maximum audio output: 2 Vrms.
    16-bit 44.1 kHz converters.
Mic input for recording or LiveFeed.
    Independent thru connections.
    Select CD or Vinyl Control.
    Optional power supply.

    Serato SL3

USB 2.0 high speed audio interface.
    Improved dynamic range: 104 dB.
Maximum audio output: 3 Vrms (hotter output).
    24-bit 44.1 or 48 kHz converters.
Aux Input for Live Mix Recording or LiveFeed.
Aux Output allows use of the Sample Player as a Virtual Deck.
Aux Output opens the door for future expansion and creative configurations.
High-grade phono preamps upgrade the performance of most mixers.
Software switchable Direct Thru connections: less cable required.
Independent Line / Phono-level selection for each input for greater flexibility.
Galvanic isolation prevents computer noise from interfering with audio path.
    Soft carry case included.
Includes international power supply: best performance and easy transfer between DJs.

JB, I went to long and Mcquade and financed it..

20% down, and then you choose your term. The interest rates are like nothing, especially if you get automatic payments through your bank or credit card.

The deals I've found online weren't that great.. I'm happier with a warranty through a reputable source

usually around $600 for SL1 and $800 for SL3, new.

I saw some craigstlist postings for $500-$600 for SL1.. used/stolen.

Financing without credit checks... every djs dream.

    lol.

It's not like I just went out and bought $10 000 worth of studio gear, but I hear from my friend that works at L & M that if you have a good track record with a smaller financed purchase they'll give you WAY more credit next time.

    lol. THAT is trouble.

yeah, pretty standard. that's what I paid prime for it
bonus - resale value never really decreases

also, get a universal ac adapter (+/- $10) so you don't need to have the interface plugged in to the laptop to spin regular vinyl. also helps performance since the interface doesn't have to rely on bus power

*edit: $699 for SL1 at L&M? pass.. get it used

someone on craigslist is asking $400 for just the SL1 box & some control records, dece deal considering a usb cable & rcas can't possibly run you more than $30
