ABOUT STRIDE RECORDINGS

Stride recordings is a fresh new drum'n'bass label based out of Toronto, Canada, boasting original cutting edge production from some of the most diverse and talented artists this side of the Atlantic. Not your typical digital label, the primary long term goal of Stride is to expose the rest of the world to some of the most promising up & coming acts to emerge from Canada in quite some time.

One unique aspect of Stride Recordings is its lack of borders and walls when it comes to the genres that embody the label. From smooth liquid rollers to dancefloor smashing jump up, from the dark and techy to the minimal and funky, Stride offers up two guarantees with each release: quality and diversity. The label was founded in 2009 by Toronto-based DJ Kapulet after receiving countless submissions for his highly acclaimed CCDNB podcast. After coming across dozens of amazing unsigned dubs and wondering how they could just slip under the radar, Kap decided to take matters into his own hands and get some of this great undiscovered music out and available to the general publc.

While Stride is based out of the city that many consider to be the epicenter of Canadian drum'n'bass, the label pays attention to detail in regards to what is happening throughout the entire country of Canada. The first 4 signees -- Vice LaVice, Schematic, Override and Spinlock -- hail from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver respectively.

The first release from Stride is Vice LaVice's "The Future" EP, which was released on October 15th, 2009. Shortly after, Vice followed up "The Future" with his sophomore effort, the groundbreaking, crowd-tested dancefloor smasher "Save Me" to critical acclaim. Schematic was the second act on the label to drop a release with his soulful, funk-infused 4 track release "The London EP."

While all of the previously mentioned releases, as well as several free promotional tracks from Schematic and Spinlock are currently available exclusively online at the Stride Store (ccdnb.ithinkmusic.com), Stride Recordings is gearing up for its official re-launch at the end of January. Having secured a distribution deal through mediums like Beatport and iTunes, the newly revamped label is about to embark on a major promotional campaign that will see bi-weekly releases throughout the remainder of the year.

Adding even further diversity to the already talent-rich roster the label boasts, Stride has been busy signing new acts to accompany its new look. Spring will see the first releases from Toronto-based production team Locked & Erbalist, who have already found great success with both vinyl and digital releases worldwide on several established labels. Kitchener's Filtersweeper chimes in shortly after with a reggae-fused double pack, showcasing his knack for drum-heavy, anthemic production.

The future of Canadian drum'n'bass is right around the corner.



 VICE LAVICE
One of Toronto's best kept secrets is the man they call VICE.
Having cut his teeth in the production game via the world of hip hop, Vice's longtime adoration of soulful and jazzy drum'n'bass is quite evident in his newer works. The first signee to Stride Recordings has been holed up in the studio all summer producing and collaborating with other artists while readying new tracks for the label, as well as planning events with his production crew Bass The Beat. His debut LP "The Future" is the first release on Stride, with several remixes and singles in the works for the new year!

SCHEMATIC
Ottawa native Dan Dubois, known by his stage name SCHEMATIC (formally known as schema) is regarded as one of the "must hear" up & coming acts on the Canadian drum'n'bass circuit. A relatively new artist on the scene, he has already headlined for many of Eastern Ontario's top promoters such as Konkrete Jungle Ottawa and some of Montreal's finest. With 4 years of experience under his belt, Schema is a professional audio engineer, having graduated from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology with honours. Dan decided to take his career one step further by founding his own company, Schematic Sound and has engineered tracks for artists such as Counterweight and dubstep heavy-hitter DZ. With one release already out on the Distinctive Beats digital label, the second artist to be signed to Stride is gearing up for his debut release on the label, the banging single "So Hot" with his first EP to follow shortly after.

 SPINLOCK
Justin Todd aka SPINLOCK is a studio head that hails from the Vancouver, BC, on the beautiful West Coast of Canada. His musical style ranges from hard hitting Darkside to the more soulful style of liquid funk and a fusion of both styles he's constructed for his first releases on Stride Recordings. A true "studio head" in every sense of the words, Spinlock chooses to spend his time producing well-laid out drum'n'bass compositions behind the boards as opposed to DJing. As Stride's primary West Coast representative, Spinlock's debut release on the label is due out this winter and with so much time spent in the studio as opposed to out in the club, you can bet that his contributions to the label will be plentiful. His first release on the label will be a well rounded, diverse genre-leaping EP, offering up something for everyone's taste.

OVERRIDE
Override has been producing music for well over 10 years and has always loved the liquid side of drum n bass. throughout the years he's been producing drum n bass tracks which bridge the genres of liquid, nero, and dark drum n bass. a gearhead by nature, override uses lots of hardware in his productions, especially analog synths. never afraid of a good vocal line, override has been working with various singers, writing and recording original lyrics for the tunes. overall his music philosphy is to keep the track pumping with groovy drums and deep basslines, but always leave room for light melodic leads on top. The newest and most experienced member of Stride Recordings Override is expected to deliver some of strides hottest tunes with his debut release "the Saturn EP"set to drop in early January.
