no this is a yamaha, was used mainly for live gigs before i got a hold of it. Im curious as well to find out how well this things works and sounds. In you opinion, should I chain it like this PC-EQ-Mixer-PC, or PC-Mixer-EQ-PC, for mastering. If I even have the chain correct at all.

there are two things you could do:

    1. you could put the EQ after the mixer (because you intend on using it to carve all the channels together for mastering)

    or....

    2. (this may be considered wacky but I consider the following the best route) - make the EQ your send/insert on the the mixer. This way you can adjust the individual eq gain amount on each channel.

Very interesting. I could possibly do both, if I run each channel of the EQ in stereo. Thanks JVP.

Sorry I haven't completed that article yet.
I had a strange dream last night that I picked my monitors up off of my desk and they sounded clear and as I moved them toward my desk the desk made intense bass frequencies.

I think I need to couple or decouple my monitors.

good idea / bad idea: layering two stereo field expander plugins on the same channel?

For what reason? First one is at max but still isn't enough stereo?

I wouldn't reccomend it, all stereo field things do is adjust the volume relation of out-of-phase vs mono signals. If you are going for a really wide atmospheric pad or something like that try layering a number of similar elements and panning them off each other.

My rule of thumb is if you don't know why you're doing something don't do it. What are you doubling up on?

I would say before even thinkin about gettin too technical get a decent set of monitors and soundcard so you can at least hear everything properly, then the techniques you learn you will understand so much better - Pacso - Higher Stakes Rcordings - #tipoftheday
