I'm not trying to deride you/tj.com for exercising your right to promote and position your events in whatever way you choose and to make demands of other promoters who want to reach the tj.com user base to have to meet certain expectations/ financial commitments. A business is a business after all.
I just think to lump threads that tj users, that are clearly not here promoting for other companies (supercilious), and have interest from other users on this message board(see the reason for this debate), into one big thread may be over doing it a bit. At the same time is it doing your user base any favours?
Ultimately its your prerogative on how this website is run.The fuck do i know? I've only been apart of this message board for 12+ years.(maybe its time to move on, fuck)...honestly, i wouldnt think its a big deal for someone to start a thread "omg did you see the lineup for XYZ Event?" without it interfering with structure of promoter sponsored event promotion on this site. Maybe that is no longer the case??
I agree 100% and it sucks. The problem becomes determining the nature of the post, and whether or not its an excited member of the TJ community sharing an event they are looking forward to, or a proxy post by someone else with other motives. For that reason, it has to either be all or nothing. And there is leniency afforded to those we know are genuine in their posts, as those threads stayed forever.
Like I said, its a tough spot man. Start a "Toronto Summer Festivals 2012" thread and go nuts in there. Is that fair?
for once when i asked that i wasnt trying to start shit, i actually just wanted to see if the lineup for identity was totally confirmed before i bought tickets to veld tomorrow
Can we go back to laughing at Kira now?
