MANSION x YES YES Y'ALL proudly present...
HAPPY ENDINGS #014 // SCHLACHTHOFBRONX (GER) x POIRIER (MTL) x PHO (BONJAY DJ SET)
Saturday, April 14th, 2012 @ Dim Sum King
Facebook Event (http://www.facebook.com/events/198621880250697/)
It's been a little over a year since we last hosted Schlachthofbronx. With the help of our good friends, Major Rager, we booked the little known Munich-based duo, whose claim to fame at the time was their ability to slice up beats from the far corners of the globe - Angolan kuduro, Brazilian baile funk, Caribbean soca, Jamaican dancehall, Cape Verdean funana, etc.
Schlachthofbronx distilled these disparate sounds into a speedy and infectiously hyperactive brew of next-level party music, which translated naturally into an incredibly fun and engaging live show. These guys have since redefined "dancehall" for us - and we've incorporated their sounds into many of our events. We're very pleased to bring back Germany's kings of bass with partners Yes Yes Y'all!
SCHLACHTHOFBRONX (MIXPAK/MAD DECENT, GER)

Munich is more then Oktoberfest. Few people know that the capital of Bavaria is not only a hot spot for beer, but also for BASS music. Schlachthofbronx exploded from the very same music scene on a wave of massive blog buzz and media attention resulting from the release of their selftitled full length debut-album. Soon after, they were playing raves with dancehall heavy-weights like Buraka Som Sistema and Major Lazer.
Two EPs (as well as countless hi-profile remixes) later, they've left crowd after crowd with happy, sweaty smiles using their signature mix of rave, dancehall, baile funk, bounce, cumbia, soca and traditional Bavarian music.
After being asked to support grammy/oscar-nominated pop princess M.I.A. on her Eurotour, the guys from Schlachthofbronx are set to go even bigger in 2012, with a new LP fuelling their busy touring schedule. Prepare for some serious bass, sirens and airhorns!
POIRIER (MIXPAK/NINJA TUNE, MTL)
http://soundcloud.com/poiriersound
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Poirier/215969498422420
Drawing from a wide range of tropical riddims and urban electro, the power of Montreal-based DJ/producer Poirier’s bass blasts through any flimsy attempt to classify his music. Pinpointing the bits and pieces of dancehall beats, soca energy and electronic intensity is futile in the face of Poirier’s dance-driven creativity and air horn-worthy excitement. Signed to Ninja Tune, this is a man who just understands what works in the dance.
Giving the massive what it wants, yet providing a musical education in what it needs, Poirier is a producer and DJ who has no boundaries except, perhaps, the rule that it’s gotta have bass, and it’s got to bounce. With this philosophy, Poirier will keep the dance rammed.
PHO (BONJAY DJ SET)

Pho (Live) at Happy Endings November :: Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/32647287)
Heavy, heavy bass. Propulsive rat-a-tat beats. Spacey future soul classics. The next-level sounds of Toronto duo Bonjay set spines a-tingle. But as Bonjay’s music shifts away from the dancefloor and into the concert venue, the group’s producer maintains one foot firmly in the club. Witness his previous appearance at Happy Endings above for a preview.
